Patternmaking is a skill that takes time to master. It is also a skill that can be learned by anyone. In this article, we are going to explore the five most important tips for sewing patterns.
1) Start with a pattern that fits you well.
2) Add seam allowance for all seams and edges on your pattern pieces.
3) Cut out your pattern pieces, but keep them in the order they were cut out in on your fabric, so you can easily find them again when it’s time to sew them together.
4) When sewing two pieces together, use pins or basting stitches to hold the fabric edges together before stitching them with a needle and thread or machine sewing machine thread. This will ensure that they stay in place while you sew.
5. The most common mistake that beginners make when sewing their first garment is not making sure that they have cut out all of their pattern pieces accurately before sewing them together, which can result in inaccurate seams and poor fit.
